Pesticide Workshop and "Stop the Bleed"

In 2026, farmers who hold a Private Pesticide license can recertify February 13th from 1-4 PM at Northland Community and Technical College with the University of Minnesota Extension Service. This year after the workshop, farmers will also have the opportunity to attend a short, ½ hour course called “Stop the Bleed.”

“Stop the Bleed” is a course on what you do before the first responders arrive.  Stop the Bleed courses train the public to save lives through three basic actions to stop life-threatening bleeding following everyday emergencies that sometimes happen out in the field or at the farm shop. Advances made by military medicine and research in hemorrhage control are the basis for these simple actions that can save a life. All who complete the course will receive a first-aid kit before they leave the pesticide workshop.

Be ready to take to the field, ready to apply chemicals and prepared for accidents and emergencies that can happen on the farm. The Private Pesticide Workshop is February 13th at the Northland Community and Technical College auditorium from 1-4 pm and is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension Service. The “Stop the Bleed” course will be held immediately following from 4 until 4:30 pm.

Sign up for the pesticide workshop will open in December at https://extension.umn.edu/pesticide-safety-certification-resources/private-pesticide-applicators or simply search “minnesota pesticide safety certification.” No need to register for the Stop the Bleed course, just stay in your seat after the workshop and pick-up your first aid kit when the course is done.
